As some of you might know, it is more difficult for certain people to gain than to lose weight. I was one of those unfortunate people. For the past 20 years I have tried to gain weight, but without any success. It was embarrassing at times to remove my shirt when I was around the pool or at the beach.

The Birchall Diet has helped me to gain 4 kilos within 3 months. The key is understanding what the "hunger sensation" actually means - that our body is starting to use the reserves stored as fat. The rest is pretty much common sense, and the author applies loads of this to his formula.

Just in case you're confused, I have applied the opposite to the "losing weight" formula.

The problem with underweight people is that we often don't eat enough. But more importantly I had to learn how to recognise that hunger sensation and therefore "when to eat" to ensure none of my reserves are consumed.  I still continue to eat small portions of food, but I ensure that I eat more often to avoid that "hunger sensation".

Hi T,

Thank you for your post.

yes, the basic principle of "The Birchall Diet" concerns what I like to call "weight control" and so you exactly right, it can be used to lose weight, gain weight or equally importantly, to maintain a steady weight.

I am very happy to hear of your success on my diet, thank you for taking the time to add your post to the forum. Hopefully it will help convince others that "The Birchall diet" is worth a try, to lose, gain or retain weight.

Cheers

To gain the weight it is require to follow the schedule of the exercise and diet program. Another thing is that drink plenty water which helps to increase the digestion power  and maintain the level of the water in body.

HI,

I agree with you 100%.

As for the "products" that help you gain weight, I NEVER like eating anything artificial if I don't have to.

Why use checmicals etc. when you can manage your weight eating normal wholesome foods.

If you are struggling to gain weight this will often be due to the fact that you have no fat to burn, and as I state in the book, hunger is our body indicating that it is burning fat. so if you have no fat, you will hardly ever feel hungry (you would feel other discomfort by not eating but it would not be what we traditionally call hunger.

So if you want to gain weight you have to try to "break out" of the "cycle" and try to eat healthy wholesome food regularly. Do not overeat of course, but do try to eat something even if you are not fully hungry. Then when you have started to put on some weight your natural hunger sensations will start.
