Hi, I bought the book 3 days ago and read it in one sitting. I started the diet straight away and I have already lost 2 pounds. I think the diet is good although I worry that someone may take the 'going hungry for a short while' a bit too far when they start to get results. I know you say in the book never starve yourself but I just worry someone might. I like the diet and I am not being critical, it was just a thought I had when reading the book. I am getting results so I am going to recommend the book to my sister. |

Hi,
Firstly, thank you for buying the book and secondly thank you for taking the time to post your comments.
Your point is very valid, I could not agree more, but I did all that I could to try to make it clear that you never need to starve yourself and I also pointed out that if people look at what they weigh and then look at how much they want to lose, then they should be able to see that they do not need to radically change much at all.
I too worry that some people may take ANY diet too far and that is why I recommend the regular weighings, so that people can monitor their progress closely and act before it becomes a problem.
I do feel that the body will soon make you feel so uncomfortable that the starvation sensation starts to prevent you from going too far.
Starving is VERY BAD, it robs your body of essential energy and can make you very ill very quickly. I do have a link on the diet web site to specialists who can help if people feel that they may be suffering from anorexia or bullimia etc.
The one fear I have with producing a successful diet that works is people overdoing it, it almost stopped me from publishing in the first place, but I thyen thought of all of the people who want to be healthier and lose weight for health reasons and so, on balance, I felt that the diet would have an overall positive effect. I do feel that if you "listen" to the signals that the body produces, you won't go too far wrong, starvation is a VERY unpleasant signal and you cannot keep it up for long.
I can see quite clearly that you are not being critical but expressing a very real concern and I thank you for that. Your constructive comments are most welcome and will hopefully add more weight to the warning to not starve.
I am so pleased that it is working for you, after a couple of weeks you should start to feel as if you are fully in control of your weight loss.
I hope that you (and your sister) manage to improve your health and feel good about yourselves.
Thank you very much indeed.
Please do keep us informed of your progress.
